Your final decision is the type of foundation or base you require. Your storage shed plans will probably recommend a wooden floor depending on the shed size, and this will be satisfactory for light use. They are not suitable for storing heavy items, oil products or corrosive liquids. A concrete base is the best solution. It needs to be at least 4 inches deep and 2 or 3 inches wider than the shed footprint. This will be a little more expensive (maybe $200 more than the wooden alternative, depending on the size) but will last for many years, be immensely hard-wearing and never need any maintenance.
